Dirty Girl

It's fairly impressive when your horse can manage to cover every bloody inch of her hide in thick, wet, disgusting mud.

I don't mind mud myself, not in the least. But this is wet, foul-smelling manure mud...the stuff that accumulates on top of the base layer of frozen ground over the winter, when poop freezes too fast to pick out of the paddock. It's all organic, that's for sure.

I'll have pictures tomorrow, this is seriously impressive, especially for Stella, who doesn't quite have the lust for rolling that Ernie did (God, did that horse love a good roll) and who actually can be a bit of a princess when it comes to staying clean. But hey, she's been hanging out with a bunch of boys the last few years, maybe she's given up her feminine ways.

I have some good(ish) news, which is that spring has finally sprung in VT, or is at least peaking out from behind the clouds to tempt us. I think it's high time I get my poop in a group (a saying I now use often, thanks to my dear friend and other half Eryn at Leaving a Giant Impression) and create a weekly schedule for myself. It's staying light out longer which means I can actually do something with Stella after work or class. I think if I have something tangible to look at and plan for (nevermind, no think, I KNOW) I will have a much easier time getting us going.

More coming soon...

  1. I need to do this too. We should do it together. Merle and I need to get the show on the road.
