Wisdom for a Winter's Day

The groundhog (some) of us rely on may have predicted an early spring, but it certainly hasn't come in the Northeast. I've measured a foot or so currently in my area of Vermont, there's more in other parts, and I know places further towards the coast in New England are getting hammered.

So, here's some wisdom for this very wintery day. I'm headed to the barn (at least I hope that's my end destination, and not a ditch somewhere) to spend some time with Stella. No work will be done today, but the time spend is still very important.

People often get confused or even irritated when I discuss my horsemanship path, and it's often because my path is not one that can be described or defined rationally. We talk about horses so much in the physical, anatomical, scientific sense, but we don't discuss them more deeply, as the feeling, thinking, connected beings they are. There's stuff that goes on that we can tune into, things that will connect us with our horses for life if we choose to develop the "ears" to tap into it, but many of us don't know how, or are too skeptical to venture into it.

Enter my teacher.

Please watch this video if you have a chance. It is so wonderful, so honest, and so close to my heart because it is my journey, the part I've struggled with the most so far.

If you follow this link and then scroll down just a smidge, you will see on the right a list of videos. Scroll through that list until you find "Day 3 - Dr. Deb Bennett, PhD", and click it. You won't regret spending this time.

Happy watching :)
